December 2007 - Virginia Heroes wins a grant from the Memorial Foundation for Children to fund a part-time assistant to the program director. September 2007 - Virginia Heroes Program Director Joyce C. Johnson wins a 2007 Wallace Stettinius Award for non-profit leadership. June 2007 - Virginia Heroes wins a grant from the George J. and Effie L. Seay Foundation and the Eppa Hunton, Jr. and Payne Hunton Foundations to fund creation of an eighth grade mentoring curriculum. July 2008 - Philip Morris employees vote for Virginia Heroes by awarding us a grant to support a tracking and evaluation program.
