Our mission is to inspire youth to achieve, and to encourage development of sound values. Our method is to provide interaction betweeen middle school adolescents and mentors on a regular basis.

One of the highlights of the year is the Annual Celebration of Heroes, in which students interact with community leaders and learn about the many pathways to a successful career.
 
Mentors visit Richmond participating public middle schools twice a month during the school year to discuss goal setting, decision making and other life skills topics.


MENTORS NEEDED NOW

The need: committed, caring people to mentor at two Richmond middle schools in 2008-9

The commitment: Two hour-long sessions each month, October-June

The location: Elkhardt Middle School (Southside) OR Henderson Middle School (Northside)

The times: 8:30-9:30 a.m. (Elkhardt) OR 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. (Henderson).

The dates: TBA, please inquire.

The format: Work with a small group of sixth graders in their classroom.

Lead discussion and activities on 12 character education and life skills topics—from goal setting to gang resistance—using an award-winning, school-approved curriculum. Comprehensive training, ongoing support and all materials provided.
