We started our mentoring program with a sixth grade curriculum. After over 10 years of continuous use, we have upgraded the materials and made them available online. The curriculum retains its original focus on character development and careful thinking about life choices. It has been changed mainly to emphasize the importance of role models by adding more information about Arthur Ashe and other admirable Virginians. Lessons and activities have been given a more contemporary feel. The upgrades were made for us by RPS Guidance Counselor Alease Johnson and RPS Vice Principal Janet Hall-Lane. The entire Sixth Grade Mentoring Program content is posted here. Mentors may download or print out session instructions and handouts before each session.
