One of the highlights of the year is the Annual Celebration of Heroes, in which students interact with community leaders and learn about the many pathways to a successful career.

Mentors visit Richmond participating public middle schools twice a month during the school year to discuss goal setting, decision making and other life skills topics.

2009 CELEBRATION OF HEROES

Virginia Heroes' 19th annual "Heroes Day" took place on March 31 at the Arthur Ashe Center.

Over 100 "heroes" -- role models from the community -- met with over 350 students from Richmond's Elkhardt and Henderson middle schools to talk about achieving success in school and life. Mayor Dwight C. Jones, University of Richmond Head Football Coach Mike London and numerous dignitaries addressed the students.
